The Second Donkey Speaks Podcast!

Well, the long-awaited second episode of The Donkey Speaks has arrived! Let there be rejoicing in the streets!

If you haven't subscribed to it, or you unsubscribed because it had been so long since my first post (oh ye of little faith!), you can visit the website or subscribe to it directly using the feedburner link. Right-click this link and select copy. Then paste it into your favorite podcast-listening-program. I prefer iTunes, but it's a free world (or it least some of it) and you're allowed to use the podcast program of you choice. (But I don't have to tell you about any other ones, ha ha.)

Enjoy.

From my Dashboard!

I know this is not supposed to be a technology blog, but I just had to try this out. I am posting this straight from my Apple PowerBook's Dashboard. [Note: not to be confused with WordPress's Dashboard!]

I downloaded the WordPress widget which allows you to post directly from your Dashboard and decided to use it for a new post. As I'm using it, I'm wondering about the usefulness of it. If you use WordPress's own link that you can add to your Favorites, then with one click, you can post to your WordPress blog and it will automatially include the url of the web page you are currently visiting.

Let me know what you think.

The Donkey Speaks!

Yes, that's right, the donkey is now speaking. What do I mean by that?

What I mean is that I have entered the world of podcasting. What is podcasting, you may ask? Here's what wikipedia has to say about it:

"Podcasting" is making audio files (most commonly in MP3 format) available online in a way that allows software to automatically download the files for listening at the user's convenience.

Okay, so how does it work? Well, what I did was record a "show" on my computer, adding in a little intro music, etc. and then publish it using the handy service over at feedburner. The first episode is about 18 minutes long and includes a little bit about myself and my family.

Okay, so how do you subscribe? Well, copy this link: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheDonkeySpeaks into your podcast application.

Which application should you use? Well, I highly recommend iTunes (you'll need version 4.9) to listen to podcasts. Download it, click on the Advanced menu and click on Subcribe to Podcast... Copy and paste my link into the box and click ok. When you do, my podcast will appear in the Podcasts window (you may have to click on the Podcasts link on the left) and start downloading automatically.

When you're in the Podcast pane, click on the button at the bottom that says Podcast Directory and it will take you to a directory with 100's of podcasts that have been published with iTunes. You can find even more on the internet.

Here below is a little icon that lets me know how many listeners I have. At the time of this writing it says I already have 10, which seems like a lot to me, because I just started.

That's it. Subscribe to my podcast, listen and drop me a line at donkeysmouth@blevins.nl to let me know what you think.

Is there finally light at the end of the tunnel?

Is TV finally starting to turn back towards center?

Debunking "Junk Science"

I'm not sure which category this falls under, but I have found a website, JunkScience.com which raise some interesting issues. What is "Junk Science"? Well, here's the deifinition taken straight from their website:"'Junk science' is faulty scientific data and analysis used to advance special and, often, hidden agendas."

Check out their website and let me know what you think. -RB

NOTE: I don't necessarily agree with everything on the website, but
they seem to have some good things to say about global warming.

Introduction to Donkey's Mouth

Welcome to the section titled Donkey's Mouth.

I hope this will become a collection of short, interesting,
sometimes humorous articles about life, philosophy, politics, things I
read in the newspaper. I'll offer my opinion on these things and
hopefully an insight into what God's opinion of these things are.

Why the name Donkey's Mouth? It is derived from a story in the Bible about a donkey that God used to speak something He needed said (Numbers 22: 21-30). I figure if God can use a donkey's mouth, He can even use mine.
